Toowoomba Rangers
The Toowoomba Rangers Baseball Club is a baseball club located in Toowoomba, Queensland, that participates in the Greater Brisbane League competition and the Brisbane West competition. For the past few seasons it has been excluded from the Greater Brisbane Major League, but is set to join the new competition format in the Greater Brisbane League 2009-10 season after sweeping all three Minor Leagues two years in a row. The dominance of the minor leagues by the Rangers killed Major League clubs chances of premierships in the lower divisions with the exception of other three team minor league club, Carina Red Sox. On December 14, 2008, Redlands refused to make the 150 km trip to Toowoomba after being beaten 26-1 earlier in the season and decided to pay a forfeit fee instead.[1]
The Rangers Minor A team were undefeated from the start of season 2007 until the 7th of December, 2008 when they were defeated by the Carina Redsox 13-12 in the second game of a double header.[2]
The club also holds the infamous record of the largest defeat in the Greater Brisbane League when they lost 42-0 to the Redcliffe Padres Major C team in the 2002-2003 GBL season.[3]
